I’m glad you got to see the iris seeds Judy. I have seen green pods and maybe even used one in a Monday vase, but haven’t noticed them later after the pod opened. The seeds are smooth and hard like an acorn.

Oh how interesting! Amazing how they’re perfectly packed in there, I always think of seeds as having a specific shape and not growing to fill a space. Any possibility you’ll plant them?
Interesting to see how the seeds are packed inside… by the time I notice mine they have already spilled a lot of the seed out. They dry beautifully by the way. 😃
Thank you for sharing because in all of my years in the garden, I have never seen one of these.

Very interesting – and decorative too!

Don’t you love the way they are all lined up neat and tidy within? 🙂
Yes, expertly arranged and packed. The seeds are smooth and hard like an acorn, pleasant to touch.
Great series of photos. I can’t help thinking of fir cones when I see those seeds.
I found an image of fir cones that helped me see the connection. The seeds are smooth and hard like an acorn, pleasant to touch.

Might as well try them. Such a cool opportunity.
Amazing how they are all so neatly arranged to fit the space, nature really is wonderful
Pauline, yes! Nature is full of surprises and wonder!

Good to know. I might try to plant these. They already seem dry, but I’m not sure.
