The dogwood gets too much sun in my yard actually. It’s really an understory tree. My previous home was heavily wooded with pines which I hated but also had many beautiful dogwoods. This one struggles.
Cathy, I love it. Dogwood is a common small understory tree here and in many parts of US. It’s our state flower, in some states it is the state flower and state tree as well. Mine’s not doing that well actually as it gets too much sun.
Susie – you are making me miss the South. Beautiful.
I didn’t mention it’s pollen season and everything, I mean everything, is covered in yellow pine pollen.
Girl..the tropical pollen.
While not the same just as bad multi plied by lack of rain.
I love C. florida, but around here C. kousa is much more common.
That’s also a beautiful tree.
Yet another plant I think is beautiful and yet not viable in my part of the country.

Very pretty, and your photos are lovely, too.
Thanks so much Beth!
A really pretty flowering shrub Susie. Have never seen them here.

Beautiful. Does it have wonderful autumn colour too?

Lol. I’d liked that, but forgotten!
Beautiful and always happy when it is blooming for easter. Jane

My father always took pictures of the family in front of our dogwoods at Easter. Happy memories.
The dogwoods in your area are always stunning… ours are nice enough, but never to the degree that I’ve seen down South.
Dogwoods, like most flowering trees, just make spring a little better.
