This summer I began participating in an Instagram meme hosted by Amy @newgatenarcissi with the idea of sharing a monthly collage of the garden. November came and went without its due representation. Yesterday I drew up its solution and for good measure completed one for December as well. December’s big surprise was finding Alyssum still blooming happily yesterday, despite many nights below freezing.
I may continue creating the collages only occasionally in the new year. They are time-consuming but I enjoy making them.

December 2020

‘Pride of Gibraltar’ Hummingbird Cerinthe
Alyssum (3)
Aquilegia canadensis (Eastern red columbine)

In A Vase On Monday – December Etude (2)
Camellia sasanqua ‘Yuletide’
Aquilegia canadensis (Eastern red columbine)
Iris germanica ‘Orinoco Flow’ (after a freeze)
Daphne odora (Winter daphne)
The collage is fun to look at. Maybe you could start a draft and add photos as you go.
Maybe. I’m afraid at the end of each day that would be one more thing I didn’t get done! 😀
Wonderful! Always enjoy your posts.

Jane, thanks so much!
Yuletide is a lovely colour Camellia, and perfect for the season. Lovely collages Susie!
Yuletide is a winner. Cold nights can damage open flowers but buds still are okay so it just keeps on blooming.
I love seeing your month in review this way, Susie! I enjoy collages and use them a lot on my blog but my current app has started charging for all but 2 formats and, if I alter their size or shape, I end up with faint lines where there shouldn’t be lines. (My prior collage app went to an annual charge arrangement too.) My dear husband searched for other tools on my behalf but all of those are VERY time-consuming, which I think will keep me from using them.
Thanks Kris. Collages should be easy but I’ve had the same issue with apps charging (too much in my opinion). I finally invested in a design app but it is complicated.
Lovely images, Susie. That Columbine must have been a surprise!
Thanks. The columbine is not actually blooming but it’s foliage holds up pretty well. Makes a good ground cover in some ways.
I especially like your November collage. Beautiful picture of the butterfly weed seed! The leaves of ‘Ruby Slippers’ look lacquered.
Thanks. Yes the Asclepius see pods are so interesting.
What a nice way to display your photos. November still has the feel of autumn, while December takes on holiday colors and has enough buds to promise flowers for the New Year.
I think the artemisia in November is my favorite!
We had a very warm autumn. I still had iris buds on some rebloomers in December, but a cold snap did them in this past week.
