Iris germanica (Tall bearded iris)
Since Sunday Cathy of Words and Herbs has been hosting a week of flowers. Garden bloggers have embraced the chance to post one or more photos a day of our flowers and gardens to brighten this week. Looking back at my 2020 garden has been an interesting exercise, remembering plants that did well, or didn’t, and making plans. From seeing others’ shared favorites I have gleaned ideas for next year.
It was hard to decide what to share today but I settled on some of my beloved irises. Most of these are passalongs so I am not sure of the names.

What a tremendous flower to end on. Great collection! Next year I should (hope to) have some nice ones to show (bought from the Hardy Plant Society this year)

Your iris are beautiful! I’m almost positive the purple is Crimson King and the next to last is Helen Collingwood, two of the best iris ever IMO.
Thanks so much. I have a note about Helen Collingwood from a few years ago when I was researching to find names for my Irises but I wasn’t sure. Nice to have names to go with the flowers. Good to hear from you!

I love Iris, too. Especially the passalongs – unnamed makes it better! My brother has all the family Iris, he retired and just keeps moving them around..
