This patch of Thrift (Armeria pseudarmeria ‘Ballerina Lilac’) Matthiola incana (stock) was planted last fall possibly last fall. I’m no longer sure. It has provided a cheerful spot of color in the southern border near peonies and iris since mid-March. Now it is starting to play well with recently opened Salvia greggii ‘Furman’s Red’ (Autumn Sage).

That is not thrift. It is stock with single flowers and seed capsules.
Thanks for setting me straight Tony. I looked up ameria (thrift) and I do indeed see the difference. It’s funny, I kept thinking of it as stock, but figure out where I got it. Thinking maybe I threw out some seeds last year? Don’t know. Anyway, thanks again.
You are welcome. Although I recognize it, I was not quite certain if ‘thrift’ is not a regional name for it there.
That last photo of the red sage is gorgeous. Such a rich velvety colour. I don‘t think I have grown either thrift or stock, so wouldn‘t know the difference. Lovely flowers anyway! 😃
Love the Salvia gregii. Great color.
It’s taken a few years but this salvia seems happy now. It love the color too.
