Peonies have prospered in the fine spring weather. These are scenes from the first half of May.

Wish you could enjoy the fragrance.
Me, too. Loving Sarah this evening ❤️
Gorgeous blooms – I absolutely love peonies!
Yes, peonies are amazing.

‘Festiva Maxima’ and ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ are two of the tree that are available in nurseries here, and ‘Festiva Maxima’ happens to be my favorite. The problem is that they are so unreliable here. Some people can grow them. Most of us can not.
‘Festiva Maxima’ is a favorite. I always thought peonies needed a cool climate.
That is why I do not grow them. My former neighbors in town grew them quite nicely. I could not figure it out. They do not get much chill here. Supposedly, they can be grown in the higher elevations of the Santa Monica Mountains above Beverly Hills (in the Los Angeles Region). However, I have never actually seen them there. I will eventually try them here, but would not bother at all in Beverly Hills. That is unrealistic.
Gorgeous! Do you have a favourite?
Thanks. I am partial to Paeonia ‘Madame Emile Debatene’ but my favorite one bloomed last month. I snuck it in by showing the seed pods, Paeonia lactiflora ‘Coral Charm’ (Coral Charm Peony). I have planted dark red ones but so far haven’t managed to get them to stay.
Oh yes coral charm is on my wish list . It’s a beauty
