A dreamy creamy Hellebore, one I have featured before, called my attention again this week. This hybrid purchased from Pine Knot Farms in Virginia in 2016 has been magnificent this season.

Now that the plant has been in bloom for a few weeks it is interesting to observe how the early ivory buds open to reveal green at center and on the outermost petals before maturing to delicate green.

Beautiful! Are the stems long or assisted, somehow, in the vase? (Hellebores around here all seem so squat. )
Thanks Chris. The stems are cut to the ground with several flowers on each stem. I cut the ones that face the back toward my house.
Gorgeous! Hellebores just get better and better as the weeks go by and what wonderful hybrids are around now. This is such a pretty one and perfect in the blue mug.
It is amazing how long-lasting hellebores are and (good from my perspective) carefree.
So dreamy and so creamy! Lovely. What an absolute bonus hellebores are at this time of year when there is little else, apart from the glorious snowdrop and a few other bits and pieces here and there, to give us so much pleasure in the garden. A true beauty and you know what really amazes me is the fact that all flowers are pristine and without blemishes. Light coloured varieties are often more sensitive. And the flowers go very well with your vase too.
Our winter has been fairly mild so perhaps that accounts for their condition.

People have shared all sorts of tips, but we still haven’t a definitive method – perhaps the hellebores are telling us they don’t want to be cut! 😁

What is it about hellebores? Last year, everyone was talking about snowdrops. This year, it is more about hellebores. There are a few that were planted here years ago, but they do not like our climate. It is no something that I would have planted. I might appreciate them more if they looked like yours.
Hellebores are pretty easy to grow here but take some patience. The newer hybrids probably are creating new followers.
That would make sense. Modern cultivars really are compelling.

Such a beauty, I love that the ivory fades to chartreuse and the flowers are still held as high. I bet when you bought the plant you didn’t suspect you’d someday have enough to cut a handful for the house. I hope your new ones do just as well.
After posting this vase I read all hellebores fade to green as the mature! Will have to research that.
