I adore hellebores but they’re reluctant bloomers here. Most don’t show up until spring – whether that’s due to the particular cultivars I’ve planted or the fact that they’re waiting for more rain, I don’t know. I look forward to seeing yours in future vases.
I’ve occasionally had hellebores open in December but not this year, despite fairly warm days. We’ve had a lot of rain recently. Wish I could share some with you.
It’s true, they don’t make it easier to photograph. I haven’t trimmed back the old leaves yet, which I know is recommended but it seems weird to leave the buds so exposed. Thanks for noticing the header. Just updated it today with a photographed modified using an app called Waterlogue. So much fun to play with.
Oh, gosh, now that’s truly exciting and beautiful! I need to check my Hellebores again. It would be way too early for them here, but the buds are so pretty even at earlier stages. Enjoy!
Your hellebores may be not be eager to come out in the snow. One year I had hellebores open in December but January is often likely. It’s unseasonably warm here this year and wet, wet, wet.
Lovely, lots of beautiful flowers just waiting to open.
Exciting time. I love that hellebores bloom for such a long time too.

I wish Hellebores were easier to see and photograph because they are truly lovely. Also, I LOVE your header.

That is a neat header, like watercolor. Flowers soon.
Thanks. New header created with Waterlogue app. Quite fun and mesmerizing to play with.

Hope you find a few hellebores peeking out. Mine seem very late but I think I’m also just anxious for them to start.
Wow, I should go take a look at my Hellebores. I wonder if they have buds like that.
