Monday brings the chance to share cut flowers from the garden by joining in Cathy’s weekly challenge In A Vase On Monday.
I am smitten by the beauty of anemones. For today’s offering a hand-painted Fenton Glass vase picks up the rose pink of Anemone coronaria ‘Harmony Orchid,’ a recent addition to the garden. The white of A. coronaria ‘The Bride’ introduces movement and light.
Aesthetically, odd numbers work better, so one more anemone of either color might have improved the design, but there were no more to be found this week.
Dark green foliage and the pink and white flowers of Daphne odora fill out the arrangement.

Happy Leap Day!
Thanks to Cathy for hosting this weekly flower addiction. Visit her at Rambling In The Garden to discover what she and others are placing In A Vase On Monday.
Happy leap day to you too, Susie. Of course I love this vase, how could I not when it has my favourite Anemones. I haven’t seen ‘Harmony Orchid’ before, it’s much more delicate than Sylphide isn’t it?
Christina, I was drawn to these pink anemones in my local garden center yesterday thinking they were the same as your Sylphide. ‘Harmony Orchid’ seems to be a little more lavender perhaps? I’ve only seen Sulphide in photos. (I also bought one ‘Harmony Blue’ but wanted the entire flat.)
Oh that vase is so perfect for the anemonies, Susie – what a great find! Have you had it long? Thanks for sharing both vase and contents
Thanks Cathy, I had intended to mention in the post that the Fenton vase was a gift many years ago from the youngest of my three sisters.
Your sisters are wonderful with the vases they give you – do all 3 do it?
Actually, yes, they know I love gardening.
Once again, Susie, you have created a lovely arrangement.
Thanks so much John. With the weather improving we should have more choices soon.
well, isn’t that vase just made for your lovely arrangement – fab as always, Susie 🙂
Thank you Annette. It’s nice when everything all comes together. My sister gave me that years ago and I haven’t used it often to hold flowers, mostly it’s just been on display.
Your flowers couldn’t have a better match than that vase, Susie! I continue to envy your anemones. Other than a little foliage, I’ve yet to see any sign of anemones in my own garden this year – February was just too warm, I suppose.
Hi Kris, don’t know what made me think of that vase for today but I’m glad I noticed and used it. You many still see your anemones–sure hope so. The ones I planted in fall haven’t done well either, only one so far showing a bit of green.
I have odd number issues as well! Lovely arrangement and I love the Daphne – was puzzled by that, I have forgotten about Daphne!
Thanks. The daphne has been a star in my winter garden this year. It’s now in full bloom and so beautifully fragrant.
Susie this is a beauty from that stunning vase with the perfect flowers…anemones!
Thanks Donna. My sister will be pleased to know the vase was so well-liked. I’ve never had anemones that were pink before, and the vase worked out great.
Nice post! Haven’t seen you around my blog in awhile, what’s up? Come and visit me when you get a chance!
Beautiful!Makes me wonder why I do not grow Anemones and if it is not time to start doing it.
I encourage you to try them. I had them last year for the first time, Anca, and they make me happy.
Such a perfect vase for your flowers this week Susie!! I love anemones as well and am very sad that I seem to have lost the plants in my garden. I will have to plant some more in the autumn and in the meantime I can enjoy yours.
Thanks Julie! I’m happy to have a few to share. I planted quite a lot last fall but so far those aren’t showing signs of foliage. Hope you have a great week.
A symphonie of spring.
Thanks Ricki. And I’m so ready for spring!
That vase is amazing, a perfect vase for the colors of your flowers, Susie. Your sisters are great at gifting. It will be while before any anemones appear here. The Daphnes must smell heavenly!
Thanks Hannah. The daphne’s bloom and fragrance has been superb this year. It’s planted near the front steps so we can enjoy it every time we pass.
Beautiful – flowers and vase. This is definitely a winning combination. 🙂
I don’t use this vase often because the design can compete with the fresh flowers, but I was happy with this look. Thanks Judy.
You know how much I love those anemones Susie, and your vase is so pretty and the perfect match. The word ‘nostalgia’ came to mind. 🙂
Thanks Cathy! Yes, they are nostalgic or old-fashioned. Last year I had anemones well into June so I hope they do as well this year.
Oh, that’s lovely, Susie! I really like the way the gentle Daphne blooms balance out the boldness of the Anemones. And the vase is wonderful.
Thanks Beth. Daphne has been so useful this winter in putting together arrangements.
Those anemones are truly beautiful – I love the colours (but then my favourite colour is purple) and it’s the perfect vase for them 🙂 have a lovely week 🙂 love bec xx
Thanks Bec. Happy gardening!
Perfect, I’m definitely trying Daphne again as soon as the weather shifts.
Daphne is nice to have in a garden. Hope you can get one established.
Such a picture…truly feminine and enchanting.
Thank you so much Noelle. Each week it’s so fun to put together a vase to share.
Somehow this arrangement reminds me of a fairy tale. I’m still trying to figure out why; maybe the combination of colors.
Wonder if it is also the vase shape–a rather archetypal one.
