I love the colour of the Copper Iris Susie, is this the garden your sister volunteers for? Or is it near home for you.
This garden is about 5 miles (8k) from my house. It is a conservation garden and part of the local university (UNC-Chapel Hill). As close as it is I still missed getting there for the trilliums and other early spring ephemerals.
Fairy wands! They look a little like the later flowering cimicifuga – same family?
I had never noticed this flower before seeing it today at a public garden. The sign puts it in this family: Bunchflower Family – Melanthiaceae (formerly in Lilaceae).
The copper iris would look great with the peony you planted today.
That would be a great combination. May have to look for that iris at the garden’s gift shop.
That coppery iris is gorgeous! I love the extravagant spring flowers.
How could I never I noticed that iris before?
