In A Vase On Monday
Today again I am joining Cathy for In A Vase On Monday, a weekly challenge to fill a vase using materials gathered from one’s garden.
Anemones have been my favorite flower this spring for indoors and out. Before the Anemones wind down completely I selected a few to fill the colorful multi-stemmed vase my daughter gave me last year.
Anemone coronaria ‘Admiral’
‘May Night’ Meadow Sage is now fully in bloom in the northern border and it seemed perfect to include this week. While similar in color, the salvia adds height and provides contrasting texture and form.

For an extra punch of color I added a dark magenta cutting from a new Alstroemeria plant purchased last week.

I am a little worried this plant might spread too much so will watch it closely. It is hardy to zone 8 and the garden is zone 7b, so perhaps that will keep the spread in check. Some

Mr Fokker has become my favourite Anemone, ousting Sylphide! I think this is also my favourite vase, your daughter chose very well. The Alstroemeria gives the perfect kick to the colour scheme.
Well now, that is something! Sylphide is lovely also but I have always found blue flowers irresistible. This little vase is fun and quick to use and is so versatile. It works for just a couple of stems or a larger collection.

I’ve started seeing this vase in several shops. It’s quite versatile.
I love these bottles and all the deep rich colors you added to them….I don’t have many anemones, but I just spotted a few popping out yesterday.
The vase is all one piece Donna–very convenient. This is my first year growing anemones and I’ve been surprised at how long they’ve bloomed.
Will your beautiful neighborhood have a garden tour again this year? If so, may I come?
You’re always welcome to come by here, but unfortunately the committee couldn’t get anyone to organize a garden tour this year.

Delightful, I love anemones. The Salvia is a perfect match.
I’m glad to see the saliva blooming. Each year I bring it inside once or twice but its fragrance is a bit pungent.

Mr Fokker is my favourite anemone – I just can’t get enough of that blue! Your arrangement look s so good displayed in that ‘vase’ Susie – I really must get mine out of the cupboard and into use before all the spring flowers disappear. I am very jealous of your salvia – another favourite but I won’t have any flowers for a few weeks yet.
The blue in that anemone is hard to resist Julie. Yes, do use your vase soon–I think you’ll love how accommodating it is to whatever flowers you’ve chosen for it. In the border the salvia is at its best, but it never seems to last long enough.
I’ve been admiring several versions of these little all-in-one collections of small vases. Nice way to showcase a variety of stems. Lovely!

So simple and yet so stylish and I adore anemones. I have just planted a dozen corms/bulbs(?) of ‘Sylphide’ at my allotment for hopefully cutting later this year. I found arranging and photographing harder than it looks and I’m so impressed by everyone who posts a vase regularly. I guess the upside is that we all get to enjoy our vases in our homes for a while.
