Later the garden will have irises in flower, but I have not planted tulips in many years. When I spotted these at the grocery today, I indulged in the opportunity to brighten the house with some spring blooms.
A few cuttings of lavender help support the irises.
Instant smiles.
So pretty! Love that shade of blue.
I love that blue also. These flowers have been so cheery.
Those are all so lovely. You’ve inspired me to bring home some tulip bunches soon!
Sometimes it’s just worth it to treat yourself a bit. Hope you will. susie
Oh, how I love tulips! Hoping mine bloom in April.
Bet they will be beautiful.
What lovely colours, certainly Spring in a vase.
We may get snow this week so it will be nice to have spring inside.
Wonderful! I often buy tulips for a vase in spring as mine are much later. I have never seen such gorgeous irises on sale though!
I had already planned to buy the tulips but the irises caught my attention irises too at the store and just had to bring some home. Several are open fully this morning.
Never am I more in need of bouquets for the house that at this time of the year. Irises are hard to get here and they certainly look stunning with your blue vase, Susie!
Thanks Annette. I don’t buy many cut flowers but the Irises are irresistible–I just adore them. These were a special find.
Those colors look fantastic and you’ve put them together perfectly, a real artistic arrangement.
I can see where your daughter gets her talents from!
Well thank you very much! Many of the irises opened up this morning and I was surprised to find one turned out to be white. Made for a bit of whimsy.
I bought fresh flowers for my granddaughter’s birthday last week and had a breath of spring arranging them. 🙂
How nice! That made a lovely gift for you both then.
These are fabulous. With our cold winter, i wouldn’t want to try and get mine from the store to the car to the house. they would freeze so fast…but I can adore yours.
The temperatures must be unbearable there. Wishing you warmth and sun, meanwhile glad you enjoyed these flowers. Susie
You have reminded me to check out our irises and have found the leaves coming up. I like the way your pots match the iris colours.
Good your irises are coming along Malc. IT’s always exciting to see those sword-like leaves growing taller.
Susie: Hi! We met last spring when your garden was on the Garden Tour (I came via Keith Larkin) Remember? Oh, I had no idea you had such a lovely blog!! And well, tulips are my favorite flower ever. Take a look at my blog and you will see them in many posts!
I’ll be back, and will subscribe here. I love, love the colors you’ve shown here…
Libby
Hi Libby, of course I remember. Thanks for checking out my blog and I will certainly enjoy looking at yours. Thanks, Susie
I love your blue iris arrangement (my favorite color), and they match the vase really well. The color combination of the tulips is very interesting, never thought that bright yellow and purple would look this great together. Bravo!
Thank you! Glad you liked these. I bought the yellow tulips to pair with the irises for contrast, but when I started working with the flowers the tulips came together as a group. The blue color is also my favorite.
Lovely colors and use of containers to show them off. You have an eye! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. I enjoyed those flowers for days. They really brightened my spirit.
