Salvia ‘Blue Sky’
‘Blue Sky’ Salvia is a sometimes favorite of mine.
I brought along this perennial from my previous garden and here, as there, I sometimes grow tired of it. I decide it is too unruly, too spready, and vow to tug it all up from the roots.
Today I rather like it.

Love the colour, unusual being a lighter blue, your bee is certainly enjoying it!
The unusual shade of blue is probably what compels me to let the salvia stay. It’s hard to take a picture this summer without including a bee. There seem to be more than usual and I suppose that’s good.
I like it too – it is a lovely true blue, and not purply like most sages.
I have taken numerous photographs of this salvia where the blue does not show up accurately, but this time I was lucky enough to capture it.
And they are lovely pictures – especially with the bee!
I like the color a lot, but the plant does look rangy. If I had, I would probably plant in out in the back field.
Yes, that might be a good place. Maybe I should hard prune it. The foliage probably became ruined when the weather was so dry. The hummingbirds like the flowers.
I had lots of hummingbirds in the spring, but they seem to have disappeared. That has never happened before.

Do you know the botanical name of the salvia – is it uliginosa perchance? The colour is amazing.
Hi Malc. Yes, that is a great color and you must be right: Salvia uliginosa (Bog sage). Just looked it up in Wikipedia using your suggestion and description and images match. When I first bought it I wasn’t keeping up with names, so I appreciate knowing it now. Thanks.
I like your Salvia; it is such a pure light blue. I also like that it isn’t just a mass of blue but the foliage has equal importance. Christina
The color is unique. I think its character works for an informal garden.
