Spirea and Juniper

Another snow event yesterday left the sidewalks and streets glazed. Much less snow this time than on the day after Christmas when this picture was taken. Still, the birds are hungry and the garden’s spirea and junipers (“Carolina Sapphire”) provide a perfect gathering spot near the feeder. Junco, cardinal, sparrow, house finch, tufted titmouse, chickadee, brown thrasher, towhee–some feed on the ground as others await their turns at the feeders (or don’t wait as the case may be).  Occasionally a blue jay perches in the dogwood across the way. No sign today of yesterday’s blue bird drinking from bath.
